Actor Ryan Reynolds Not A Big Fan Of The Green Lantern Movie

Fact: Recently, the actor Ryan Reynolds admitted to having a poor working relationship with director Martin Campbell in the film Green Lantern.

Additionally, the movie was set-up for failure with the lack of a script.

Ryan Reynolds might be the only actor to play in three separate Marvel movies including: X-Men Origins: Wolverine 2009; Deadpool 2016; and Blade: Trinity 2004. Not only did he act in those superhero flicks, but he also played in the DC Comics film Green Lantern.

Usually, it’s frowned upon to bite the hand that feeds, but Reynolds was simply not happy with the process in which the movie was produced. Reynolds not only admitted to a poor working relationship with Martin Campbell, but was relieved the film failed, critically and financially, because he couldn’t see himself playing Hal Jordan again. Additionally, he felt the movie was put together haphazardly.

But that wasn’t the only issue, Reynolds was not a major fan of the movie. People who work on a big superhero movie know that scripts aren’t always readily available. The one thing actors have going for them is that… it is a superhero movie, which will get a lot of coverage. The problem with it is, is that it can end up crushing the actor or actress who leads the movie. The main reason for this is because sometimes scripts are written in an accelerated way to push a movie through production and release. Sometimes these accelerated scripts work out enough to make a decent movie, while in the case of Green Lantern, it did not. And thus, can end up sinking those in its wake like Ryan Reynolds.

Here is what Ryan had to say about the failure of the movie:

“Well, script. When we shot Green Lantern, nobody auditioning for the role of Green Lantern was given the opportunity to read the script, because the script didn’t exist. I’m not complaining about it — it was an opportunity of a lifetime, and if I were to go back and retrace my steps, I would probably do everything the exact same way. But script, that’s what’s different on this one.”

Fortunately, there was a change amidst them. Just beyond the horizon a movie befell. That was of Ryan Reynolds new movie deadpool movie 2016. The success of the movie partly came from the script having been written three years prior. For this reason, revisions and more concise scripts were created. More so, the script was leaked allowing for fans to review what they thought. The response was overwhelmingly positive. This is what Reynolds had to say about the leak:

“I would have [leaked it], if I had known it would have caused that!” Reynolds told Yahoo. “Honestly, we all thought Tim Miller, the director, had leaked it. But I have since investigated that enough, in quiet moments when he was beyond the point of being penalized by anybody, and he said that he really didn’t do it.” – IBT.com

And so, they knew they were a step in the right direction.
