Movie Actress Dana Delany Cast For Carrie Bradshaw In ‘Sex and The City’

Fact: Was originally cast as Carrie Bradshaw on Sex and the City and the role went to Sarah Jessica Parker.

In 1998, the film actress Dana Delany auditioned for the infamous part of Carrie Bradshaw for the television series, Sex and the City. However, she changed her mind on the part at the last minute and the role was given to Sarah Jessica Parker instead.

The part of Louis Lane has been prominent in her career. She played it on three different film series and even shared the role with Desperate Housewives cast mate Teri Hatcher. Both Teri and Dana also played the love interest to James Denton who was Lois Lane in the film, All-Star Superman in 2011.

She is related to Abraham Lincoln’s Secretary of the Navy, Gideon Welles on her mother’s side of the family. She also holds true to her Irish-American roots and is fluent in English and Gaeilge.

Before the show was cancelled, Dana Delany was making $150,000 per episode on the medical drama Body of Proof which aired for several seasons on ABC. The show has been considered to be brought back on more than one occasion.
